Pros

kind and supportive colleagues for the most part

Cons

A place rife with incompetent and problematic people. There is a senior who speaks to team members in an unprofessional and questionable manner. Said person will raise their voice at, and curse incessantly in front of team members. Team members are also encouraged to work over time just to support this senior’s workload in addition to their own- and are told that overtime is a good learning opportunity / exposure- which is another reflection of the questionable work culture here. All this is however the spillover effects from a very incompetent previous management who turned a blind eye to these trends. The department I am in requires very little "proper" skills. As long as you are a people pleaser, and are able to do general corporate tasks such as writing emails and conducting cold calls, you can go far. It is no wonder then that a bulk of workers here are incompetent- these people stay here for they lack 'proper' skills and are unable to take on more legitimate roles outside. These people become middle and senior managers with 0 leadership background, 0 technical skills, and the cycle of incompetence and toxicity continues. The role itself can be described more accurately as a customer service / recruiter role- it is not as glamorous or analytical as how the company likes to frame it.

Pros

Amazing people - lots of reviews say that because it's true. You'll work with smart, genuine, hard working humans. Good benefits and perks. Interesting events and opportunities to learn. Overall, a good place to start your career!

Cons

Very fast-paced environment which definitely isn't for everyone. Lots of necessary change.

Pros

Great co-workers, solid healthcare plans (with transgender coverage!) and excellent leave policies.

Cons

Five or six years ago GLG was an incredible place to work. It was inclusive and fun. Then Paul Todd left and everything went downhill so fast it gave me whiplash. New CHRO was a buddy of the new CEOs and the nepo hires continued from there. So many RIFs that the teams are all skeletal, and everything that made the amazing culture at GLG disappeared. I may recommend GLG for a new grad desperate for something to put on their resume, it’s probably fine for that. As far as the company I loved and genuinely enjoyed being a part of? Well that’s long dead. Management is catty and they’re all watching their own backs, everyone is working scared and willing to push anyone else under the bus.
