Decent job for the pay - Customer Service Representative GM Financial Employee Review

Pros

It provides a lot of diversity and you're able to move up in the company after 6 months to a year. Also, the way the PTO works you are able to call the hotline and take off instantly. If you do have the time, you don't have to have any bodies approval. Just let your manager know for courtesy. GM financial also has decent pay rate and the culture is inviting. They're not like super strict. I dislike my job because I dislike talking to customers so much and they complain about things that unfortunately I can't help with so getting tired of that. But the company itself is a good company but listening to customers complain all day is too much

Cons

The cons to me is that your PTO isn't really a lot. It's accrued each paycheck and you only get 40 hours every year for personal time so it doesn't matter how long you stay with the company. It's always just going to be one work week! Also, you switch management so often. I've had at least seven different TLs and only work here for 2 years! Can get a little annoying when you get used to your team and you have to keep moving

Pros

I'm a senior-level software engineer, previously worked at tech companies, and this job is relatively easy for me. No on-call, work-life balance is good. I usually get everything done within 2-week sprints.

Cons

GMF is the true definition of work hard, not smart. There are so many dumb engineers. There was a time I had to work with non-technical teams like prod support, and it was quite frustrating. They wanted my team to build an automation so they didn't have to work manually as if anything is possible and there is no limitation within the company. I didn't even create a backlog item as it was a waste of time.
