Pros

The environment that GMF offers is great. The leadership wants to see you do well. They conduct consistent one on ones. They want to know your career goals and aspirations. They offer a lot of volunteer work and programs such as the mentorship program. They're understanding because it's a close knit family. The AVP's seem to know everyone personally.

Cons

The job itself. It is a call center job and even though they give it a better name - you are a debt collector. You deal with a lot of rude and aggressive customers. Phone calls are non-stop, which makes sense, but everyone collectively agrees that it is draining.

Pros

I'm a senior-level software engineer, previously worked at tech companies, and this job is relatively easy for me. No on-call, work-life balance is good. I usually get everything done within 2-week sprints.

Cons

GMF is the true definition of work hard, not smart. There are so many dumb engineers. There was a time I had to work with non-technical teams like prod support, and it was quite frustrating. They wanted my team to build an automation so they didn't have to work manually as if anything is possible and there is no limitation within the company. I didn't even create a backlog item as it was a waste of time.
