Work Hard, Play Hard - The Best Job I've Had So Far - Recruiter GMR Marketing Employee Review

Pros

The culture here at GMR is the most important aspect for me as an employee. The agency built a 'Barcade" on the first level where employees can play video games, ping pong, or grab a beer when they need a quick break. Executive leadership is involved in the agency events like company Brewers outings and holiday parties. It's really cool to be able to share a beer with a Senior VP who will remember your name when you go back to work on Monday. Additionally, any management team I have worked with values mentorship and career coaching as much as they do client relationships. I know that each management team is different and some people have had different experiences, but I have always felt that my managers value the work that I do, want me to succeed, and provide me with the tools to do so. I have experienced jobs where senior leadership is never in the office, management doesn't know how to coach their teams, and sales goals matter more than team moral. I plan to do whatever it takes to remain an employee of GMR for as long as possible because they understand that a happy employee delivers stellar results.

Cons

The pay is below industry standard. I have peers at other companies who make seven to twelve thousand more than I do here. The work can also be very stressful as so much of it is last minute and it can be hard to plan ahead. Also because of the nature of the business (events that happen nights and weekends as all fun parties do) it can sometimes require being available or online after business hours. As long as you get involved in the culture here and make an effort to have fun all of the cons are a trade off.

Pros

It was a good seasonal opportunity working on the Amazon Program. Pay was decent until I got a promotion that only came with a $50 increase in weekly salary but a major increase in responsibility + poor leadership + HR telling me "you'll make money by saving your per diem".

Cons

Poor leadership. All Field Managers operate differently even though it's the same client (Amazon). The Account Supervisor also admitted that he "wasn't in the weeds" enough to understand my issue of 1) being understaffed on my team and 2) unrealistic expectations that I was supposed to be on-site 8pm-7am working AND by available during regular 9am-5pm business hours to answer questions, When I brought all these concerns to the Field Manager and Account Supervisor but were non-chalant and were unhelpful prompting me to resign within the 1st week. HR doesn't seem to care either because they don't do any type of exit interviews.
