Thank you for your feedback, and we are sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your experience as a Team Leader. We would love to hear directly from you to learn more, as there seems to be a disconnect between the description of your time with us this summer and what most of our staff experience. In the meantime, hopefully we may provide some context for some of what you have described.
We do our best to clearly outline the responsibilities for each of our summer roles at multiple points throughout our application and selection process, including in our position descriptions and during offer calls. Our 10:1 ratio figure is an estimate in reference to any other staff members in the vicinity. While in classrooms, this means at least one Lead Instructor is also present. During more unstructured break and transition times throughout the rest of the day, other staff members in the area also balance out the ratio. Lead Instructors at certain sites may also have additional classroom prep time during camper lunches when they continue to work despite campers not being present. Meanwhile they still maintain the usual 30-minute staffer lunch break. Lastly, we always strive to keep our compensation structure competitive with other day camp providers. We maintain our pay rates to be commensurate with the education and experience required for each role, much like most other employers (whether they are summer camps or otherwise).
Again, we’d be happy to hear from you directly at outreach@galileo-learning.com. Best wishes, the Galileo team.
