They do not want to hire part-timers full time. If you are a student worker, you have next to no chance of being promoted. The promotions I did see happen weren't all that fair -- they were really just people the managers happened to like, or were friends with. There were actually a decent amount of long-time employees, but they were constantly getting their hours cut for no real reason. I remember one morning I completed markdowns so fast I was sent home early... woo? So you lose money for doing a good job?
