Pros

Double digit revenue growth year-to-year.

Cons

Gartner is a deceptive employer. Sales professionals hired by Gartner, both inside and outside, must go through the New Sales Hire Training Academy. The issue is that Gartner does not disclose one can be fired if the Academy and manager subjectively decide if the participant has failed the training, deeming them not “field ready.” Many are fired the day after completing the Academy training even after been handed in a ceremony a Certificate of Graduation. When recent graduates point to their certificate, they are told it doesn’t mean anything nor any of the countless certificates confirming completion of assignments, projects, etc. This intentional, deceptive practice by Gartner leaves people in ruins, with many having quit jobs, uprooting families and spent considerable amount of money to relocate to a new city. If relocation is provided, the company has legal claims to be fully refunded for the expenses. The Arlington, VA office leadership is particularly guilty of firing new employees who have risked everything for a new job with Gartner. There is a least one known suicide attributed to the Arlington office due to this practice and to the relentless, at will firing of employees by management. In Fort Myers, Florida, a small town, with no local universities or qualified locals to recruit from, Gartner heavily recruit recent college graduates for their inside sales role in the Small, Medium Business organization. Gartner intentionally deceives these young people who are starting their careers. These recent graduates commit to 12-month leases, some buy their first property, only to be told they are fired. Unemployed, and with no employers in the area, they are forced to leave at their own expense, all while Gartner is threatening legal actions on them if they do not return up to $10,000.00 in relocation assistance. Fort Myers locals can relate countless of stories of recently fired trainees in tears at the airport. Gartner is a corrupt, heartless company. Gartner claims to provide unbiased, independent IT research to CIO’s and IT leaders. In reality, vendors must pay for a positive rating in the Magic Quadrant. Nothing about Gartner is legitimate.

Pros

Terrific coworkers. Nearly everyone at the company is pleasant, professional, and willing to help you even if you’ve never met them before. Hybrid work environment. People generally seem to care about you on an individual level. One of the best corporations I’ve worked for.

Cons

Gartner is not in a great place right now. The business model requires changes and Wall Street analysts have tremendous doubts about the corporate liability in the era of AI. Stock has fallen in half over the past two years. Massive layoffs across the company. Doubt the stability is there for any kind of medium term or long-term career. Below market compensation, offset by pros above when they exist.
