Pros

Extremely intellectually stimulating environment Your peers are the experts in their domains You help clients solve their biggest challenges, and their gratitude is immensely rewarding. Work from home is nice

Cons

Gratitude from the clients doesn’t translate into high pay, with most analysts making less than they would elsewhere. Retention among the analysts is a problem, but management seems only focused on client retention. Metrics, metrics, metrics - the focus on management by metrics that have very little ability to show any material causation to client outcomes causes perverse behaviors. Have people work from home but not letting them expense any internet or phone costs is short sighted.

Pros

Terrific coworkers. Nearly everyone at the company is pleasant, professional, and willing to help you even if you’ve never met them before. Hybrid work environment. People generally seem to care about you on an individual level. One of the best corporations I’ve worked for.

Cons

Gartner is not in a great place right now. The business model requires changes and Wall Street analysts have tremendous doubts about the corporate liability in the era of AI. Stock has fallen in half over the past two years. Massive layoffs across the company. Doubt the stability is there for any kind of medium term or long-term career. Below market compensation, offset by pros above when they exist.
