Pros

Smart and helpful colleagues. The Gartner name on resume gets you respect from some people. Ability to interact at the C-level and build executive presence skills. World class training. A good life when you have a good leadership team but it truly is luck of the draw and changes annually.

Cons

There is a toxic environment and it is growing. You know it’s serious when even the current top individual contributors and their managers are miserable. Everyone is interviewing elsewhere and trying to get out. If you’re considering joining Gartner now you should realize you’re playing with fire and it’s just a matter of time before you get burned. You are just a temporary fix to their very big problem. The factors that contribute are leadership harassment, verbal and mental beat downs on a regular basis regardless if you’re performing or not b/c it’s never good enough, metrics over mission, growth at all costs, sell the dream today and make it someone else’s problem tomorrow, no respect for time off or not working nights or weekends, etc. I’ve never seen so many people leave a region at one time and I’m confused why Gene hasn’t figured out the bad eggs yet. I’ve been told they are putting people on PIPs then HR is forcing people to resign it’s like HR has a metric for how many people they got to resign this month. Also they’re not doing exit interviews anymore so that tells you something. Also don’t be fooled by the fake reviews. You know the ones with 1 con, many pros and have 5 stars posted daily after a bunch of negative reviews.

Pros

Being a globally recognized company makes it easy to consistently engage clients. Great benefits. Amazing people (managers and colleagues) For the most part there is a clear path to success and promotions. Executives listen to feedback after every internal call to help guide strategy.

Cons

In office mandate increasing in office days from once a month to once a week. Need to live in Florida or Texas because of the in office mandate. Promotions take a while since there are many people going for the same roles. Hard to reach clients and constant territory’s shifting makes it difficult to achieve the numbers you and management expect.
