Pros
Gartner: - Good PTO and Benefits - Variety of Employee Resource Groups. Good inclusivity Variable Comp: - Intelligent, friendly coworkers - Job security is good. Stable - Workload has some seasonality. Month/Quarter closes are heavy but other periods are manageable for most people
Cons
- The department is subdivided into 4 teams that have different functions. These teams have extremely different levels of exposure and there is prejudice based on what team you're in. - Can be difficult to utilize PTO and there is poor coverage of your work when you do take time off. - Promotions are hard to come by and are influenced by favoritism. - Poorly designed onboarding program. Your ability to learn new skills will strongly depend on your manager finding opportunities for you. Ask your hiring manager where they started within Gartner to see if they were promoted to their position (preferable) or hired into management. The majority of managers are external hires and have a limited understanding of the work you'll be doing.
