Pros

 Location – Commuting from the Reading area made for a much shorter commute than what I was doing before. This translated into: • More time with family. • Less wear and tear on car and gas consumption. • No more Turnpike tolls.  Facility – Beautiful building in Gilbertsville, PA. overlooking a church and open fields. Facility also has an onsite gym available. Overall, the facility promotes a very cheerful and healthy environment.  People – I was very pleasantly surprised how friendly everyone was when I started. People went out of their way to say hello and introduce themselves and get to know you. This is something that is often lost in bigger companies.  Industry/Application – The flagship application is highly configurable and flexible as it is used by customers in the attraction industry in many different ways. This lends itself to a higher learning curve. But you are paired with senior staff and sufficient training is provided. Everyone is also generally very helpful in the training process. So, if you like to learn, you will be learning something new every day. IT staff is fantastic and get you up and running in no time.  Compensation • Salary within market reference range for the position, area, and experience. • Benefits are on par with industry. There is a 401k matching program in place and Health Savings Account is offered. It is a small company, so health plan benefits may not be as comprehensive as it would be with larger company offerings. But in my situation, the premium and coverage differences were not drastic. And the company is continually looking to improve their offerings to its employees.  Work/Life Balance – The company really supports a good work/life balance. For my position, the company offers work from home opportunities up to 2 days/week.  Work Environment • Open communication and highly collaborative environment. • Highly transparent in terms of company direction, goals, and finances. • Less politics at play than in larger companies. • Ownership and Management are very approachable and care for their people.  Social – People are friendly and down to earth. It is not uncommon for people to be hanging out together after work hours. There are many events that are planned throughout the year such as summer barbecues, and rather unique company sponsored outings such as: Reading Phillies game, Hershey Park, and Christmas party. Outings are always well-coordinated and Fun!! At this company, you work hard but you play hard too. And the way that ownership and management show their appreciation by offering these events/outings to their employees and their families, goes a long way in making this a great place to work.

Cons

 Really nitpicking here, but there is no tuition reimbursement program.

Pros

None worth calling out or mentioning.

Cons

After working at Gateway for several years now, I can honestly say this is the worst company I’ve worked for in my career. The place is chaotic, reactive, and draining. There is not enough clear direction, ownership is often messy, and people spend way too much time trying to figure out who is supposed to do what. The company talks about process, but it does not feel consistent. Things are vague until there is a problem, then suddenly everything turns into blame and extra scrutiny. That gets old fast. Management makes the environment harder than it needs to be. There is a lot of checking in, questioning, and asking for updates, but not enough actual support or clear decision-making. It creates stress without solving the underlying issues. Teams do not seem aligned, communication is poor, and employees end up carrying the weight of bad planning. A lot of problems feel completely avoidable. I would not recommend working here. It is not a stable or healthy environment, and the company seems unwilling to admit how much of the frustration comes from the way it operates.
