Pros

Gateway has interesting and friendly people, a great benefits package (WFH flexability, insurance, 401k match, vacation, etc), and most importantly, the work is exciting and engaging! Being able to look at the real world impact of projects that we work on and the direction this company is headed is truly exciting. There is a continuous improvement culture here, and as such our processes are constantly being looked at and adjusted as needed. It is definitely a good thing!

Cons

A lot of projects that come in are custom development, however the product is aging and there are many areas that would benefit from redesign. We do not have the resources to handle this effort however. Most (but not all) position require detailed logging of time, due to metrics required by management. This is a necessary evil I believe, but easily the biggest negative of working at Gateway. The fact that not all employees are required to log time also creates a double standard. Due to the fact that most employees time logging is viewable by anyone at anytime, it can also lead to micromanagement, which hurts company morale and productivity.

Gateway Ticketing Systems Response

Dear anonymous, I appreciate your feedback with regard to time logging. Gateway Ticketing Systems is a metrics-driven organization, so understanding how much effort goes into our products to enhancement them is important to us. As you mentioned, some employees are not required to log their time. Those are usually situations where the person's work is wholly focused in a single area and not spread among numerous projects. We have also since changed our internal system so that time logged isn't viewable by people outside of management or HR, which should address your specific concern. Of course, it's not the company's goal to micromanage people, so if you feel this is actually occurring, please let your manager or human resources know. Kind regards, Michael

Pros

None worth calling out or mentioning.

Cons

After working at Gateway for several years now, I can honestly say this is the worst company I’ve worked for in my career. The place is chaotic, reactive, and draining. There is not enough clear direction, ownership is often messy, and people spend way too much time trying to figure out who is supposed to do what. The company talks about process, but it does not feel consistent. Things are vague until there is a problem, then suddenly everything turns into blame and extra scrutiny. That gets old fast. Management makes the environment harder than it needs to be. There is a lot of checking in, questioning, and asking for updates, but not enough actual support or clear decision-making. It creates stress without solving the underlying issues. Teams do not seem aligned, communication is poor, and employees end up carrying the weight of bad planning. A lot of problems feel completely avoidable. I would not recommend working here. It is not a stable or healthy environment, and the company seems unwilling to admit how much of the frustration comes from the way it operates.
