Pros

Schedule flexibility Opportunity to travel to some pretty cool places/customers Company lunch/events occasionally --- if you enjoy that kind of thing The people are great. The employees and most of the managers are friendly, fun, helpful, and really support one another.

Cons

Stuck in a hire/fire cycle and they do both at warp speed without a big picture view of future. That cycle is very stressful on the employees. It creates uncontrollable ebb and flow in workload (when they hire a bunch of people to spread the work out and then lay a bunch off and all of a sudden you're doing the work of 3 people) and creates uncertainty in job security. The culture they portray to the public is not what it's like to actually work there. There is no autonomy for managers to make even small decisions. CEO needs to make every decision and doens't disagree in a friendly way. Both he and his wife (who also works there) have a public persona that is caring and open to all opinions, but is very different in reality. They can treat people very poorly for small or even perceived slights and make it very difficult to go to work everyday once you're not in their favor. They value employees that serve as "informants" over those that do quality work (which may contribute to their financial instability). The "real" culture is much more toxic and difficult to navigate. They surround themselves with people that agree and conform rather than anyone that can provide a different perspective/experience or challenge them. Required to go into the office all the time when everyone is capable of working from home (we all did it for 3 years with no problem). Raises to salaries are small and don't keep up with cost of living --- raises to benefits costs are big and unmanageable.

Pros

None worth calling out or mentioning.

Cons

After working at Gateway for several years now, I can honestly say this is the worst company I’ve worked for in my career. The place is chaotic, reactive, and draining. There is not enough clear direction, ownership is often messy, and people spend way too much time trying to figure out who is supposed to do what. The company talks about process, but it does not feel consistent. Things are vague until there is a problem, then suddenly everything turns into blame and extra scrutiny. That gets old fast. Management makes the environment harder than it needs to be. There is a lot of checking in, questioning, and asking for updates, but not enough actual support or clear decision-making. It creates stress without solving the underlying issues. Teams do not seem aligned, communication is poor, and employees end up carrying the weight of bad planning. A lot of problems feel completely avoidable. I would not recommend working here. It is not a stable or healthy environment, and the company seems unwilling to admit how much of the frustration comes from the way it operates.
