Pros
I spent 8 years in the Marines. During that time, I taught a specialized program that easily translated into the security industry. I got out in 2012 and immediately after began working for Gavin de Becker. I used my experiences from the military and applied them in Gavin de Becker. I rose through the ranks fairly quickly through my hard work, dedication and willingness. This career is not for the feint of heart and you will not get any where here or in life expecting a hand out. You wont be promoted just for doing your job and meeting the minimal standards. That will only come with hard work and our organization has done a great job rewarding those who prove that they are ready for advancement
Cons
Balancing your life and career is very difficult but this can be said with any career. What I see most of are people looking for a job. By definition a job is something you do to in the short term to earn cash. It's filling a work role within a business in exchange for money. If this is what you are looking for then expect to be limited by your lack of ambitions. A career, though, is a long-term pursuit of a lifelong ambition and this is what I strive for daily. Leaving a positive impact and promoting change is never without its sacrifices.
