Pros

Worked with some incredibly dedicated, gifted, goal-oriented engineers across multiple teams. Team culture was fostered well and was always positive, looking ahead to how we could all better serve the company and each other.

Cons

I was laid off after only a few months of getting hired. I left a stable company and paycheck after being headhunted to come work towards "Unlocking the next era of financial, creative, and personal freedom," only to be laid off on a random Thursday. That says a lot regarding how the company truly feels about its employees. Even more so when reaching out to and receiving nothing but radio silence from the company's HR team about COBRA benefits as I am now forced to do while I look for other employment. I get it, Gemini isn't the first tech company to throw rounds of layoffs at its employees, but it's still incredibly disheartening to scoop up dozens if not hundreds of new people, feed them mission statements and feel-good mantras about working in an incredibly challenging, yet technically rewarding industry, only to can them just a few months later. Broadly announcing plans for domestic and international expansion, misleading employees and users alike, all while knowing the company's wallet is close to running dry also speaks to the levels of deep, systemic mismanagement at the senior leadership and C-suite level.
