Pros
Genentech is a ompany you will thrive at if you can take advantage of the many resources available to you. Because it is so large, it is important to try and have visibility with upper management. This means volunteering for initiatives and presenting to large audiences. In my role, you also need incredible soft skills to deal with the many personalities you will encounter in the sciences. Many roles allow you to telecommute some days.
Cons
I have managed to move up several levels over 7 years however many people struggle to get promotions. The LTI of RSU and SSRs is not much of an incentive at all. After 6 years of letting my stock sit there, it still is worth very very little.
