Pros
The starting pay is competitive. Benefits are good and recently got better (increased vacation time for everyone). Great job security. Flex time and end of the year shutdown allow you to have a good work-life balance. Lateral promotions come easy for the first 5 years. Annual raises. Great opportunity to work on one of the most interesting products in the world, submarines. A nice friendly environment. Opportunity to rotate into different departments and experience all sides of the business. Tuition reimbursement for Undergrad and Masters.
Cons
Management is sometimes disconnected. Hard to move up in the company, not enough positions available. Management does not listen to employee complaints. Groton facilities are run down. Bonuses are small and not based on merit. Annual evaluation is based on years served and not merit. Lots of processes are cumbersome and wholly inefficient. Engineering tends to take blame even when trades are at fault (Union Workers).
