Pros

Would (generally) recommend a job at EB if: -You are determined to live/work in the area -You have general interests in DOD contacting and submarine building experience -You are not passionate about actually using knowledge you learned in college. Where you got your engineering degree just to get a technical degree, -Your main priority is having good job security and a decent-enough pay. I'm mostly speaking to the experience of working as a salaried Engineer. Trades jobs, designers, planners all have their own pros and cons.

Cons

The overall culture right now is terrible. They've had to hire an absurd amount of fresh graduates with no experience to fill the void left by the horrible retention. When I started 2 years ago, my department was at least 60% 5+ years experienced engineers. Now its 80% -2 years experience. So many people quit or retired in my department alone. People keep leaving because its a frustrating place to work, the pay for senior engineers is not competitive, and there is much incentives to stay long term. All upper management cares about is getting their numbers to look better and avoiding delays at all cost. So a ton of work is thrown to new hires and they're asked to sign off on it without even understanding what the product is. There's so much bureaucracy that you don't really get any real engineering experience or transferable skills. There are some hidden gem departments that do get to do some really cool technical analysis but those are few and far between. If you have other options pursue them. If have no other options, take what you can from EB, but keep your skills sharp on your own time
