Pros

Great place to start your career. Lots of good employees to help you advance your career. 4.5% on match on 6% contribution to 401k is good for a large company. Health incentives of $450 in Amazon gift cards is nice. 20% Discounts for verizon wireless.

Cons

Haven't won any new contracts in Maryland area in over 8 years. Large company attitudes of the employee should bend over backwards for the good of the company like working for free during all hands meetings and training. Extremely high overhead cost forces them to be stingy on pay and benefits. Promotions are more about who you know then how well you perform. Can't compete with some of the other contractors in terms of benefits and pay.

Pros

GD-MS seems to win *ALOT* of proposals and contracts. There is always the next big thing at GD-MS.

Cons

Contractors 411: Typically, contracts terminated with no notice. Today will be your last day. Please wrap up your work. It was a very low-rate contract too. Made alot of sacrifices to be on this program. Culture resembled a human wood-chipper ala FARGO. Many senior engineers leaving en-mass. I was asked to take over the role of the engineer who left just prior to my arrival. I called it: I will be next. Good experience once in your life to go thru the human wood-chipper. Toughens you up. However, GD-MS is a great example of how it is that legacy aerospace companies are dying rapidly and startups will be the future in aerospace.
