Pros
General Mills was a nice place to work. The Benefits were good when i was hired back in late 2012, and have declined ever since. The people themselves are very nice, and everyone is very welcoming. The upper tiers of management are always willing to take time out of their day if you set something up on their calendar. this is something i was not used to after i left my previous employer. I was always well rewarded for working hard.
Cons
The benefits really went downhill after i was hired. Poor 401k match. Instead of getting rid of people who were bad at their jobs, they frequently got promoted to get them out of the job they already couldnt handle. The worst thing is that General Mills is a dying company. Nobody wants hamburger helper or dry cereal anymore. In the 4 years i was with the company they shut down 6 facilities and sold 2 more in the united states. they also fired about 20% of their corporate staff. This all seems funny because they had done the same thing and "Refueled" about 3 months before i started. Not a bad place to work, but i would worry about job security unless you are essential and at one of the bigger production facilities.
