Pros

They assist with hiring when civilian positions aren’t open

Cons

Other contracting companies do the same things but with way better benefits Ignoring that they have atrociously worse health insurance than their other competitors in the same defense space, they boast being a woman owned company but have no paid maternity leave OR EVEN SHORT TERM DISABILITY. To me this is the bare minimum to claim to be an equal opportunity employer because women can’t realistically go back to work a week after having a baby like my male coworker with the same benefits chose to do so I either take it which feels like I’m saying this is okay or hurt my career/happiness and change jobs when I do not want to and it would hurt my career to do so.

Pros

The people at the main office are responsive and will work with you on any issues you have. They recently switched 401(k) plans after some employees complained about the high rates on the previous one.

Cons

-The benefits are still pretty expensive. -Under our new contract last year, the base closure policy changed for GTS contractors working at my work site. Suddenly we are no longer payed in case of base closures for any reason, unless we take payed personal leave. We work alongside government employees who are payed, basically working the same job as many of them. I don't know if the change is unique to GTS, or if the government has decided to treat all contractors as second-class employees. The effect of this policy change has been, frankly, demoralizing.
