Pros

Ambitious mission and innovative science Some very talented researchers. Exciting potential if leadership aligns on clear goals

Cons

1. A portion of the research team appears to be coasting and work on "fake" scopes 2. The research infrastructure is made intentionally complicated to drive so called "impact" over efficiency 4. Research direction frequently shifts, slowing progress 5. Leadership lacks focus and consistent vision in AI + Bio. 6. Increasing bureaucracy from big-company hires (VP, director level) who are career-ladder climbers and prioritize politics over progress 7. Complex dynamics make execution and collaboration confusing.

Pros

Great people and easy to talk to Lots of opportunity for cross collaboration $400 monthly commuter benefits $15 lunch comped once weekly 1 week summer shutdown company wide first week of July and 1 week winter shutdown last week of December 15 days of PTO and 5 days of sick leave

Cons

Impossible to be promoted and no clear upward mobility Frequent re-structures, roles and expectations are not clearly defined Following the layoff, multiple people literally had no work to do for almost half a year Portfolio and strategy makes no sense with several projects continually added without the manpower for them or expertise needed for such niche biology Grueling workload
