Pros

1.) Great coworkers in the therapy dept. 2.) Good CFY supervision provided. 3.) Free CEUs offered online only (via GRS university), but this is in place of therapists going to outside providers for CEUs.

Cons

1.) Productivity standards for therapists are unethical and unrealistic, and it's all that upper management cares about. If you aren't productive, you will be bullied and written up for low productivity, even if you are a good clinician and patient advocate. 2.) Increased demand placed on PT/OT for documentation, particularly when they don't see the same patients everyday. 3.) Documentation system is convoluted, cumbersome, and overly time-consuming. In addition, computers are in shoddy condition at best, further interfering with therapist's ability to manage time effectively. 4.) Forget about reimbursement for CEUs or even basic training required for our job (e.g CPR recertification). 5.) Limited assessment tools. Management is pressing for standardized tools but are unwilling to pay for new speech assessments needed. I have no assessments for my low-level patients which compromises my ability to develop appropriate POC. 6.) Terrible health benefits for a healthcare company. 7.) Toxic animosity between therapy and nursing (note: this may be specific to my center). In addition, upper level management for rehab is totally blind to this animosity and how the dynamic affects patient care. All upper management cares is whether the department is hitting it's 85-90% PCH (patient care hours). 8.) Raises are almost non-existent (frozen for 2013 and 2014), and when you do receive a raise (supposedly this year), it is merit-based (largely on productivity) and does not keep pace with inflation (1-2%). 9.) Unless you want to be a rehab manager, there is no opportunity for advancement.

Pros

Flexible schedule, nice coworkers, nice office space

Cons

Horrendously overworked. They kept promising help that never arrived. I felt terrible having to let certain tasks fall by the wayside because I was always drowning. I was afraid to take a day off and worked through illnesses, making it harder to recover. Administrator didnt care.
