They are very stingy with raises for staff. Higher-ups get good money and good raises. The insurance is expensive. You don't get much vacation and they don't want you to take it. i have missed a number of graduations and weddings since I started here. Managers are concerned with how they look to their managers and not with how their staff is doing. Managers encourage staff to watch other staff and report back to them. The vice president of my division loves to talk about how much he cares about us and what good jobs we do. He cares only about his resume and his next job.
