Pros

Georgetown is a great environment to be in. The school's values are well-communicated and manifest in how people do their work. It is energizing to be around intelligent students, world class faculty and dedicated staff members. There are lots of events that you can attend -- Presidents and world leaders who come to speak, basketball games, cultural performances. Also - tuition benefits are amazing.

Cons

The efforts to support growth and development differ entirely by team. There have been some efforts at the university to support growth -- notably manager trainings through HR, skills training at the library, the Georgetown Women's Alliance -- but you have to find these opportunities and take advantage on your own. As is most academic institutions, staff are in support of faculty and students, which can make you feel like you're playing second fiddle.

Pros

Job security throughout budget cuts happening in the public health industry currently. Plenty of PTO and holiday paid leave.

Cons

Constant threats by upper management to "write us up/disciplinary action" for anything. Director is really unfair/disrespectful/condescending to our supervisor and so that trickles down to data coordinators. For example currently there is a threat that we will be "written up" if we do not meet all the competing deadlines. Ive seen sooo people many come and go in this sector over the past 3 years its insane. Its alot of data to manually enter and one must be organized /driven and on top of your game but it gets borring if your not passionate about the cancer trials you are working on.
