Pros

- Excellent benefits package - Many high profile academics and other speakers visit campus regularly to give talks, contributing to an overall academic vibe in a cool way - A low pressure environment that is accented with high pressure moments

Cons

- Salaries are generally low, but I don't know how this compares to other institutions of higher education - No career tracks to progress through and minimal opportunities for promotion. It seems like most employees do shallow, diagonal moves - Administrative bureaucracy that prioritizes "the rules" ahead of practical implementations (that do in fact follow the rules)

Pros

Job security throughout budget cuts happening in the public health industry currently. Plenty of PTO and holiday paid leave.

Cons

Constant threats by upper management to "write us up/disciplinary action" for anything. Director is really unfair/disrespectful/condescending to our supervisor and so that trickles down to data coordinators. For example currently there is a threat that we will be "written up" if we do not meet all the competing deadlines. Ive seen sooo people many come and go in this sector over the past 3 years its insane. Its alot of data to manually enter and one must be organized /driven and on top of your game but it gets borring if your not passionate about the cancer trials you are working on.
