Pros
Georgetown is committed to quality education and Jesuit values of care for the whole person and mean and women for others. Amazingly, that does work it's way down into everyday work in the ways we support students and the outreach we do.
Cons
It's still an environment where white, older men have most of the authority, and women and minorities will likely have a frustrating time trying to advance. Communication tends to be very one way (up, with little communication and feedback coming back down). While there is periodically a lot of talk about mentorship and general support for the idea, there isn't really time/space created for it. A lot of people take on--and are expected to take on--more than a single person's load. Like many universities, pay is on the low side, especially for such an expensive area, and the only merit pay increases often barely cover cost of living adjustments.
