Cons
The tasks and duties given to teachers are numerous on top of teaching a caseload up to 175 students. Many unrelated job duties assigned. Annual bonus take home is less than 50% after taxes are taken out. Reasonable health insurance premium for employee. If you add a spouse or children it's oInflation. Only $41 per day for meals when traveling. No change for recent insane inflation. Only $45/mo internet reimbursed when Georgia allows employers to reimburse up to 90% of the bill. As this job requires high speed internet service, a more realistic reimbursement should be closer to $80+ per month. The board of directors do not address communications of concern. The "good ole boy" system reigns supreme. It is ALL about who you know AND which department you are in. Merit pay does not exist here, that is why there is no pay transparency! Disorganization causes MUCH stress and duplicate work. There is NO project management, no planning ahead, no process for organization. The motto is "building the plane while it is in the air". The motto is "putting students first" and while teachers, family engagement liaisons, and attendance specialists are definitely carrying this motto, there are many district directors (academic, counseling, operations, etc) and the GCA Board of Directors who show regularly that they are not! The interim superintendent is supposed to be a lawyer and you can tell that is true in his most recent email to staff where staff are told they can now log off at 4:00 every day versus the 5:00 previous schedule. So now staff are allowed to work from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. but the caveat is that they must have completed all of their job duties before signing off, which is an almost impossible task for most employees! Therefore, for the most part, staff will not be signing off at 4:00 p.m.. District Academics Director is highly unorganized and lacks the necessary skills to do better. This causes a terrible trickle-down effect of scrambling at the last minute to make sure curriculum is prepared and ready for students. Delays in academic calendars coming out. Miscommunications regarding interim assessments. The list goes on!
