Strong community ties - Graduate Assistant Georgia State University Employee Review

Pros

GSU offers a strong community base within the humanities (my only experience; other departments/schools may be different). Faculty is supportive of students and fellow faculty/staff members.

Cons

Upper-level admin can work in mysterious ways but local department/school admin seem to try to balance that out (getting info, passing it along, advocating for students/faculty/staff at all levels). Big school, big city--easy to become a number if you're not careful.

Pros

Building bonds with peers and residents while earning a base pay of $10 an hour.

Cons

Only being able to work 20 hours a week and getting biweekly pay so the max you will make will never surpass $420 in two weeks.
