Pros
You will have the opportunity to work on unique projects and work across the company and country with subject matter experts. Lots of opportunity to work hard and earn amazing clients. Lots of exposure to the engineering industry.
Cons
The company pays entry level technical staff and mid-level staff about 20-30% less than market rate as an annual salary but will give you a sizable bonus at the end of the year that does not cover your overtime hours and the below market rate pay. You will donate your personal time to make projects and budgets work for the company. Managers and leadership are extremely arrogant across the company. The lack of diversity tends to manifest the same, old school bad behavior known within the engineering industry. Lots of opportunities for growth; however, rarely are the opportunities taken advantage of by management to effect real change. Across the company, administrative and support staff are treated poorly and rarely praised for doing a good job. High turnover has been an issue for years but management has not made significant changes based on employee exit reviews. Budgets are tight; people resources are limited on most projects. To move up, the business model requires that all technical staff sell, manage, do meaning you will be doing/running/winning projects like you are running your own business, without the rewards of running your own business. Annual reviews are time consuming and are used as a justification to not promote staff, instead of documentation of performance, resetting staff focus, and goals for the next review period.
