Pros

Travel opportunity, good benefits after many years of working there, vacation time, you might have a good boss, international atmosphere can be fun

Cons

Burns out just about every junior staff they have with crazy low pay, lots of expected overtime for events, poor management, and horribly dysfunctional HR department. They also don’t allow for any professional development, and often push out employees who have dedicated years of hard work just because they don’t want to pay them. I know this sounds just like a disgruntled employee review but I promise this is all fact, and unfortunately the norm for the think tank space in DC. Places like GMF have so much potential and advocate for so many good causes but can’t seem to get out of their own way when it comes to treating anyone below a director level with respect.

Pros

Pros The team is incredibly supportive, fostering a collaborative and respectful work environment. Work-life balance is genuinely valued, allowing for flexibility and personal well-being. One of the standout perks is the opportunity to attend and contribute to major policy events, which is both inspiring and professionally enriching.

Cons

Leadership changes have been frequent, which can create uncertainty and disrupt continuity. Compensation is on the lower end compared to industry standards, which may be a concern for long-term financial growth.
