Pros

The few employees that have been here for longer than the 60% of the department that are new hires. The newer hires have no idea what Germania used to be.

Cons

- Repeated and consistent changes that have done nothing but harm the employees of the company through pay restructuring, subtle retirement restrictions, unfair job evaluation tools, and vacation limitations. - Dishonestly and a lack of real transparency from upper management. - Trying to change the entire culture of the company into one that mimics the very worst aspects of the insurance industry at large. - Repeated examples of supremely qualified internal candidates being overlooked for positions. All while barely qualified external candidates are chosen and then promoted at accelerated paces while the loyal employees are ignored. - People that dissent with upper management are frequently singled out and attempts are made to scapegoat them or attempts are made to dig up dirt on them in order to come up with a pretext for demotion or firing.

Pros

Hybrid work agreement (3 days onsite/2 days home) Solid IT department with a lot of industry and organizational knowledge Most of executive leadership seems to genuinely care about staff, product quality, and customer experience (with the exception of a few title hounds with Texas-sized egos) Privately ownership means no public investor influence

Cons

Increased hybrid work agreement from 1 day onsite/4 days home recently A LOT of middle managers are caught up in interdepartmental power struggles and old grudges. Stressful to witness and bad for cooperation and morale Executive leadership's still beholden to not-so-smart board of directors due to farm mutual status Incredibly slow to change or modernize any part of the business (unless it's for rushed AI implementations) The WORST health insurance benefits I have ever had even while paying for the highest tier offered Personally witnessed regular harassment, yelling, and more by multiple managers and heard about plenty more incidents secondhand
