Pros

Competitive compensation, benefits, vacation. Friendly coworkers, management - and perhaps more importantly, management that understands you have a life outside the workplace. They expect you to produce and work hard, but also understand that sometimes life happens. I cannot overstate how much I feel like leadership actually cares about its employees, and how important I think that is in a job. The CEO is on a first-name basis with everyone; everyone knows him and he makes a point of getting to know everyone. Their benefits package goes above and beyond what many employers are willing to give. While many employers are too concerned with their bottom line and shareholders to take care of their employees adequately, that is not the case here. Job-hopping as a method of career advancement is popular (at least in part) because of a lack of promotional opportunities for employees in some companies - in other words, upward mobility in a given company isn't always ideal or as ubiquitous. It's expected in many industries that employees only stick around for 2-3 years before moving elsewhere. However, many of the employees at Germania have been here for a good long while. They want you to stay, and from what I've seen so far, they make it worth your while.

Cons

As other reviews have outlined, this company is a bit behind the times in a variety of ways (which I will err on the side of caution and not outline in detail). However, what I will say is that they are aware of these shortcomings, and are making moves in all directions to change that. They realize that in order to expand and compete in our day and age, they have to get on the same page, whether it be culturally, technologically, or strategically. In the relatively short time I have been there, I have seen great strides by leadership in all of these directions. This last point straddles the line of pro and con. As I have mentioned, there are a lot of changes going on right now - changes I feel are for the better. But as with all changes, especially in a company this size, there are going to be growing pains. Processes and practices will come and go as they learn what works best, and this can certainly be frustrating at times. So, while I feel change is overall for the better, there are bound to be some bumps along the way. In my mind, however, this is understandable and as long as they are listening to employees and striving to improve, it will be a net positive.

Pros

Hybrid work agreement (3 days onsite/2 days home) Solid IT department with a lot of industry and organizational knowledge Most of executive leadership seems to genuinely care about staff, product quality, and customer experience (with the exception of a few title hounds with Texas-sized egos) Privately ownership means no public investor influence

Cons

Increased hybrid work agreement from 1 day onsite/4 days home recently A LOT of middle managers are caught up in interdepartmental power struggles and old grudges. Stressful to witness and bad for cooperation and morale Executive leadership's still beholden to not-so-smart board of directors due to farm mutual status Incredibly slow to change or modernize any part of the business (unless it's for rushed AI implementations) The WORST health insurance benefits I have ever had even while paying for the highest tier offered Personally witnessed regular harassment, yelling, and more by multiple managers and heard about plenty more incidents secondhand
