Is this your company?

Management was incompetent and uneducated, but the owner is a true blue salesman. - Personal Trainer Get In Shape for Women Employee Review

Pros

Great community with wonderful clients to build relationships with.

Cons

The model of the franchise does not allow the trainer to do the physical assessments for the clients and this can present an opportunity for injury. The manager does that and gives little information to support the trainer in creating a program. The management wants the trainer to randomly increase the speed on clients cardio not knowing their health conditions based on one thing: "That's the way we do it here. This is the future of training." Thankfully he is incorrect. Agreements initially made when hired by the owners were not kept and so get everything in writing. If "image" matters to you, know that management is more glib than chic. The owner hires you and you never hear from him again. It will be you and the manager. If you are stuck working with an incompetent manager that's a huge problem, and it becomes your problem. No camaraderie. No support. If it's possible work in a "fun-less" this is it.

Pros

This is a company on the rise. After 10+ years operating as a Franchise and experiencing some of the trouble maturing companies will, it has "taken a knee" and regrouped to bring a sustainable quality fitness program that shows tremendous promise! They follow business principles that you rarely find in big box gyms or mom & pop studios . They have a philosophy of transparency and positivity. They provide tremendous support and a set of core values that translate from the corporate office to the client. Using the tools and principles in the execution of your job provides results and, if you apply them to your life, they provide a foundation for success in anything you do. In the fitness industry, you typically don't get base and growth pay like you do at GISFW. Anyone wanting to make a career of fitness will find tremendous opportunity here.

Cons

If you are entrepreneurial, this is the company for you! If you are not prepared for the pace and pressure of a growing company, you may find this challenging. You have to bring your "A" game. This is not a 9-5 collect-a-paycheck job. To succeed, you need a strong sense of commitment.
