Pros

you make a coworker family there based on the mutual hatred you have for the company, employee discounts

Cons

understaffed, terrible management in the departments (if there is a manager, my department didn't have a manager most of the 2 years i was there, when we did get one they were transferred again within the month), policies vary by how the M.I.C. is feeling that week, HR is too strict considering i took a 16 minute break and got a verbal warning, literally NO training - didn't know how to do 60% of my job 1 year into working there because nobody would show me, forced to work on my birthday both years i was there, can't take vacation on certain weeks which is weird, no benefits for part time, they work their employees to the ground, charge lot employees for bottles of water, haven't updated their orientation videos for years, ran out of stock several times solely because the managers didn't know how to prepare for sales, if you have a doctor's note for water or food you are not allowed to keep it near you in a department even if it's in the back room and out of the way - i would've had to run halfway across the store just to take my medication and if it was a busy day that was not an option, talked down to for making a simple and honest mistake, guilt-tripped if you call in sick or unable to come to work because of an emergency, if you and another coworker don't get along they usually schedule you together regardless because they just don't care, also accuse employees of stealing

Pros

Generally a good group of people. Work itself isn't terribly hard. Insurance is nice however, the pay is poverty wages,

Cons

Pay is called "competitive" It's competitive in the sense they pay dollars less than their competitors. You will be working solo mostly. There is zero payoff for doing a good job. Raises exist once a year set by union. These raises do not keep up with inflation. ALL PRODUCTS ARE 15-30% more expensive than other stores. Almost no one can afford to shop here that works here. If they do shop here they are paying between 50 cents to dollars more per item. The store is literally ripping off customers and workers. Work is do'able and can be completed if you bust your butt for a bit. The pay off? None. There's no raise, no bonus, they don't remember it for future raises. Working full time and getting between 370 and 500 a week is not livable. They talk about community helping which they do however its the cheapest way to pretend to care vs paying people who work there in the community more so there would be LESS people in need, No sense of purpose.
