Pros

some good coworkers. I received paychecks

Cons

civilians are not treated well. sworn supervisors will not have your back. there is a quote, "never push a loyal person to the point they no longer care". I am normally a very loyal person, but after a few years at this agency I couldn't take it anymore. there is zero report between officers and dispatch. I now work for a big city dept, and if some of the gilbert officers were at my current agency they wouldn't last a full shift. gilbert, both the pd and "town" side are very disorganized. your voice won't be heard, you don't have a union or guild. HR wouldn't reply to my emails. basic tasks like switching my address and getting my W2's at the end of the year is difficult. emergency services is a difficult industry with high turnover. don't apply here, would at an agency you are appreciated. gilbert is attempting to move from a town and a city. changes were slow enough I couldn't wait. I am not happily employed somewhere that is organized with big city vision. gilbert defines tunnel vision. I refuse to return to the SE valley just because I hated being employed at GPD so much. I am appreciated for my skills where I currently am, with better pay and benefits.

Pros

Great family-oriented department to work for.

Cons

None that I can think of. Obviously, every place has cons but honestly, it's a great department to work for.
