Pros

They are devoted to science, and the mission of the company is pure, even if it doesn't always work out that way in practice.

Cons

If you are interested in working in Talent Acquisition, be very careful. They have no data management or OFCCP compliance strategy, at all. The company went from a few thousand employees to 11 thousand in the span of a few short years - consequently most of the executives are people who have grown up with the company, and haven't been exposed to minor market global HR strategies - particularly in Talent Acquisition. The department uses several layers of contractors as recruiters and sourcers, and many of them have been on contract longer than the limit required of a federal contractor. Everywhere you turn, there is another horrible Easter egg waiting to be discovered in the form of non-compliance. I would also note that their current leader of TA, Stanley Blackwell, is a terrible leader - he is not engaged and he isolated key members of his staff from the business. He is also extremely rude. I would never work for that person, and am amazed that they held onto him for so long.

Pros

Meaningful, mission-driven work with the opportunity to contribute to projects that can have a real impact on patients. Colleagues are highly knowledgeable, supportive, and generally willing to provide mentorship. Gilead also offers strong resources, exposure to different functions within the pharmaceutical industry, and opportunities to work on high-visibility projects.

Cons

Cons: As with many large companies, decision-making and project approvals can sometimes move slowly because of multiple layers of review. The experience may also vary depending on the specific team and manager, and the number of meetings and internal processes can occasionally feel cumbersome.
