Pros
I really enjoyed my role and appreciated the high level of autonomy I had in managing my responsibilities. The opportunity to take on additional tasks outside my primary role allowed me to gain valuable experience in other areas, which was both challenging and rewarding. For the most part, I worked with a fantastic team that made collaboration and daily work enjoyable.
Cons
During my time at the company, I consistently took on responsibilities beyond my role, contributing significantly to multiple areas of the business. Despite my efforts and being in line for a raise and promotion, organizational changes led to my role being eliminated shortly after a new manager was brought on board. The decision felt abrupt, as I was given only one week of severance, which seemed inconsistent with what others in similar situations received. This experience has made it challenging to regain confidence in the workforce, particularly given the current economic climate in the tech industry. Additionally, the company offers only 10 vacation days, which I feel isn’t sufficient to truly reset and recharge. This concern was brought up by many employees in the United States, but it didn’t appear to be a priority for HR. Improved policies around paid time off and a stronger focus on employee well-being would go a long way in fostering a healthier work environment. As an American employee, I sometimes felt excluded in ways that were difficult to reconcile, especially in an environment where unity and inclusion should be emphasized.
