Pros

Benefits were better than other places I have worked

Cons

McKinsey was hired to evaluate the company value to shareholders, which resulted in mass layoffs of seasoned people and promotions of less-qualified individuals. I was a star-producer on a product that was very, very profitable. I was promoted from Dev to Management last year, was involved in the code base, and very respected and trusted by my peers. I do not take my layoff personally, as all my feedback from peers and management was glowingly positive. This was simply a case of lowering costs by getting rid of higher-paid professionals.

Pros

Hands-On Experience with Modern Infrastructure Friendly and Supportive Culture Great Resume Builder Work-Life Balance If you value a supportive team culture, a manageable workload, and building high-scale professional project experience, a Global Payments internship is a fantastic stepping stone, especially for launching a career in FinTech or platform engineering.

Cons

Uncertainty Around Full-Time Pipeline Varying Tech Stacks by Team: Because the company encompasses many different product lines and acquired systems, your experience can vary wildly depending on the specific team you land on. Some teams work on cutting-edge, next-gen cloud platforms, while others are tasked with maintaining or upgrading older legacy architectures.
