Pros

Pay and benefits are better than average for unskilled labor. Onsite parking has plenty of open parking spaces. Full time employees (not supplementals) have better than average vacation for unskilled labor. Company does compensate for working holidays and provides personal days to make up for having to work most holidays.

Cons

Pay is less than living wage, even for long-time employees; historically the max pay for production employees of this fab had a hard limit of the mean of the industry standard, which by definition means you are guaranteed to paid below average. Management and by extension employees are encouraged to be competitive/adversarial to each other rather than working for overall productivity/efficiency. Disincentive to do "non-value-added" but necessary work. Transition from IBM to GF systems means most of the IT systems are poorly designed, are needlessly complex, and simply make work more difficult, or are not used. No growth potential in manufacturing. Not a good option for long-term employment. Work volume has increased to at times the highest the plant has been in operation; number of employees performing this work is at it's lowest number, and is supposed to go lower. Twelve hour shifts and staggered work schedules creates heavy strain on family life. Expect to work at least 50% of weekends and the majority of holidays. Increasingly difficult to schedule time off around holidays or summer.
