Supposed well intentioned company belays utterly soulless drudgery - Machine Operator GlobalFoundries Employee Review

Pros

A salad bar. That's it.

Cons

I was brought in at an entry level position with entirely too many qualifications in other departments from the one I was admitted to. Multiple times, my manager bungled purposefully or otherwise my attempts to swap roles. I was often scrutinized and punished for taking any time off, despite other colleagues on my floor getting weeks off on a whim of asking. Exceptionally poor management that I hope was swept out with the recent staff cuts.

Pros

GlobalFoundries provides a fantastic opportunity for young college students to learn about the semiconductor industry and gain meaningful hands-on experience. Throughout the summer, the company offers a variety of events, tours, and mentorship opportunities that expose interns to real manufacturing environments and the teams that support them. These experiences make it easy to learn, grow, and build a strong understanding of the industry.

Cons

Due to the size and structure of the company, interns may find it challenging to gain exposure to all areas of interest. The semiconductor industry's technical complexity can also create a steep learning curve for those without prior experience.
