Pros

Worked here for 4 years starting as an NCG after getting my Chemical Engineering Bachelor's degree. Here's my perspective on the pros of working here: -Company culture is great. AME workforce tends to be on the younger side due to large amounts of NCG hiring, and in my experience the more senior employees are quite helpful to the new hires. I enjoyed working with a lot of my coworkers -Good lateral (not upwards) mobility and able to try out different roles within the company -Cafe's decent, especially with the 50% off -Area's nice to live in if you like to hike or the outdoors -I found the work and job responsibilities to be alright and not overly stressful. You can definitely focus on learning transferrable skills that'd be useful to other companies in and out of the semi industry -Soccer league was fun

Cons

-Upper management asks and direction are generally misguided and based on poor justification -Within AME, you're always trying to cover yourself to not make your department / managers look bad at the upper management meetings (DOM, Quality, Yield meetings) even if it involves stretching the truth -Lack of remote/hybrid work for process engineers is backwards compared to how progressive they try to make the company seem -Pay could definitely be better. I did receive a couple market adjustments while working here, however still not competitive within the industry -It does not pay to be loyal. You're better off job hopping after accruing experience and leaving after a few years for better pay -Within AME, there's a small amount of passive off-hours work which can be irritating -The decision for the layoffs did not correlate with how well the company had been performing for 1.5+ years prior to that quarter. The only silver lining to the layoffs is my departments focused on laying off underperforming employees, so if you're a half-decent employee then you should not be concerned

Pros

Interesting job learn something new everyday. Don't get dirty Never got denied OT Pays okay if you live in troy, if you want to work within 20 mins of your job tho have 2 roommates.

Cons

Management refused to let an employee work from home so he can take care of his wife for 3 months. When his coworkers do the same job from Malaysia. Litho dept days management is bad management is some how neither technical, professional or a people person. Rules are selective They will promote MTs sleeping with leads And force out MTs who questions it. They will promote one MT who has destroyed 100k in product And hold back another due to vibes They offer jobs or promotion to who they deem worry months in advance and then ask everyone else to apply for the same position for the optics of fairness. They create narratives about about employees without ever interacting with them. Department doesnt have a good training program. They will praise one tech for doing 4 pass downs and criticize another tech that does a PM which if separated would be 10 pass downs. They have realized they are under paying everyone so knew hires are making more than employees at 3 or 4 year mark. They installed a new machine and it sat for a year until ready for production and in that time they never gave a class to explain to night shift how to operate and troubleshoot the machine. They dont have a standard for documentation so finding the information and the information being full filled out is hit or miss. The vibes are off, people constantly take pay cuts to leave. The company as a whole does not seem proud of it self. Other big companies people say hi to each other in the hall, you will see the company logo on vest and hoodies. People speak about their work with excitement.
