Pros

Coworkers are generally friendly, hardworking people, generally trying to help their families get by...or young people working their phones supporting a car lease, apartment, and partying. The building is in Stonebridge Ranch, which is a nice housing development, and there are some pretty good places to eat lunch nearby, although traffic is increasing as the area develops. For me it was hard to work the phones and give people hard news like "your insurance plan wont pay for that"...etc, etc...and hearing the following comments from angry policy holders...(however if you can compartmentalize these situations and do your job and don't mind being profaned by telephone on occasion)...this may work out perfectly for you. Prior to reading the cons, know this. The executives will treat you well if you happen to speak to them for some reason , as I did one or two times when I worked there. Through Globe Life the company does provide a service of offering insurance to people who could not otherwise afford it, that is noble in my opinion, although nobility has nothing to do with it, it's a niche.

Cons

Rampant nepotism within executive circles leads people who are lacking in social skills and education to be promoted beyond their ability. Some of these people will be managing you. Seriously outdated computer infrastructure. (it is hard to use mainframe software that does not have a Graphic Interface. ) *My Story: I stated working at Torchmark in the customer service department answering phones. I was hoping to work hard every day and possibly be recognized by management and move up...considering that I had the requisite academic credentials, and was an efficient and punctual worker. When I was offered a higher up position by a Vice President, who is basically the only person who ever recognized me, I was led to believe that I may get the position but later learned that HR and other "forces" had an unspoken hold on transfers from department to department. No one ever responded to my application even though a Vice President gave it to HR...of course he wasn't related to the owners so...yeah. The really sick part, I wasn't promoted out of my department because I was "too valuable"...obviously not valuable enough to be promoted. After this I realized I would never be promoted and left. When I left I was doing a job that people are now being payed a great deal more for, phone enrollments. People in the Legal Department are extremely rude.

Pros

They had a benefits package. They had some company competitions

Cons

Vague management. Target individuals if results are not made even though it’s vague.
