Engaged Employer

Decent pay but unrealistic leadership is very out of touch, - Back Office Golden 1 Credit Union Employee Review

Pros

The pay is decent and there are some very skilled people working in the department.

Cons

The workloads are unrealistic at times particularly when someone is out of office for an extended period of time. Month end tends to be very busy and you will be expected to work additional hours most days if you are salaried. Management attitude shifted in the last few years. Performance expectations are very subjected and higher ratings are gated across the organization with the highest level being essentially out of reach for non leadership positions. Many talented people have recently left the department in a short period of time causing workloads to be redistributed rather than seeking new staff in a timely manner. A large number of key department processes sit with a single person with minimal at best documentation of their procedures. You may be expected to reverse engineer some of the annual or quarterly processes with minimal guidance after seeing the process one once or twice.

Pros

Offers remote work for specific positions. Non-profit organization. Work is manageable

Cons

-Leadership speaks in buzzwords, ask a simple question and you are given a Ted talk about 'synergy and connecting the dots'. -Directors are micromanagers looking at dashboards without ever trying to learn what it is their people actually do. -Executive management is completely detached from the work people actually do. They spend minimal effort in trying to improve processes. -You will never know what direction the company is headed in. Keeping you informed is not a priority. -Lots of people that have been here forever refuse to improve/change process (and that's just management) -Management only wants to hear praise, any comments on improvement is automatically taken as an offense. -Management DOES NOT TREAT all teams the same, there are special teams that get tools and support. Meanwhile most other teams are just a burden to support. This reason alone, makes trying to complete your work impossible and at times infuriating.
