Pros

G1 has competitive benefits and pay. HQ is nice. They require and pay for professional development. Everyone is nice and knowledgeable. They offer employee appreciate perks a few times a year. They recently introduced employee resource groups. There truly is an atmosphere of inclusion and accepting people as they are.

Cons

They love meetings, under the guise of collaboration and building connections. Collaboration is great, but not everything needs to be discussed face to face. G1 claims to offer work life balance and flexible schedules, but this is an exaggeration. Everyone in my department works late or on the weekends to catch up, especially since they can't use work time to study for the certifications G1 requires. And while there is a little flexibility, it's not much and is very dependent on your manager. You go into the office to have a teams meeting, either with people working from home or people who are in the office but don't want to leave their desk. If it's possible for you to do your job from home 2 days a week, it's possible to do it from home 5 days a week. I'd rather G1 stop offering employee appreciate days and instead let employees decide how often they need to work from home.

Pros

The pay is decent and there are some very skilled people working in the department.

Cons

The workloads are unrealistic at times particularly when someone is out of office for an extended period of time. Month end tends to be very busy and you will be expected to work additional hours most days if you are salaried. Management attitude shifted in the last few years. Performance expectations are very subjected and higher ratings are gated across the organization with the highest level being essentially out of reach for non leadership positions. Many talented people have recently left the department in a short period of time causing workloads to be redistributed rather than seeking new staff in a timely manner. A large number of key department processes sit with a single person with minimal at best documentation of their procedures. You may be expected to reverse engineer some of the annual or quarterly processes with minimal guidance after seeing the process one once or twice.
