Pros

I want to say I loved Goodway at one point. I met some wonderful friends here and I've worked with some talented people. When you first start everybody tries to be as helpful as they can to help you along to learn your role. I was given a good work/life balance because we work from home.

Cons

My opinion of Goodway has been knocked down a few pegs after being there for awhile. Goodway has a lot of good people but a lot of bullies as well. You start meeting people who help you when the supervisor is monitoring but when the supervisor is out of the conversation, they are curt and unhelpful. A lot of the senior folks have nurtured this type of silo mentality, hoping to get further in their careers and not trying to help others, when both of those things can be done in tandem. It might actually be beneficial for them to be more helpful because it would look good on them! Talking to them and a supervisor is not helpful as the supervisors play favorites and you end up looking like the bad one. Supervisors need to be more keen on this type of behavior and not encourage it. I feel like our environment encourages this type of behavior because these people go about doing it all the time with no reprimand. The RIF/layoff was handled badly and the culture now is one of blame. We are going through a reduction in force that I think was handled badly from the beginning. They notified those that were in the bottom 10% and then those in the top 10%, thinking that these conversations would be a secret. Then turned around and told us that was a mistake and decided to change how they're laying people off. The way they did it had no rhyme or reason. A lot of good people are being let go. This doesn't speak to family values to me. We were told not to worry and that things would be ok, and this happens. And I want to make it understood that a lot of the folks let go did not have bad work ethics or had any warning. Some were even re-considered for new positions after being let go. Please note no middle management roles were affected by the reduction in force/layoffs, which speaks volumes on who had a major say in who got let go. Middle management plays the blame game by focusing on petty issues and mistakes and handing out "disciplinary actions" even if a mistake was reflected on an entire team and not neccessarily one person. It's ridiculous how much blaming is done at Goodway. It's disheartening to hear so much blaming going around on all the teams. I know Goodway says speak up to your sup, but honestly there is no trust there. Upper management is very transparent, unfortunately that does not mean they are completely transparent. By the time information gets passed down to middle management to relay, they have a script they're supposed to stick to, which is not helpful in answering our questions. If they were truly transparent there would be more answers regarding why good people were being laid off and whose opinion it was that got them laid off. Pay is also extremely low especially considering they only expect the best of the best to work here. They hire a lot from middle america, with lower average income expectations which plays a big role in the type of people you will work with.
