Pros

Big company, brand recognition and a good stepping stone into another job somewhere else. Avoid the plants, especially the ones that end with *ville. Akron is the place to be. Hourly employees have it made.

Cons

Here are a 4 questions that potential people need to ask HR while interviewing 1. What is the salaried employee turnover? 2. How long does senior management last before running out to another facility? 3. How many hours is an employee expected to work on a daily basis. How about weekends including Sundays? 4. How often is the normal working schedule changed - 1 week a month or once a year? To cover for 24 hours when the production goals aren't met, disrupting life outside of Goodyear) If they are honest, and you are comfortable with the answers, Goodyear is the place to be. Also, promotions only happen if you know "someone"

Pros

A lot of good people who do genuinely care. Good pay and benefits.

Cons

Sadly Goodyear is a declining company. The new C-suite talked a big game but company performance speaks otherwise. Market share/volume is declining quarter over quarter and the stock price is being killed. Many long tenured and loyal Goodyear employees have been laid off due to job outsourcing or plan closures. Before taking a job at Goodyear make sure to do your own research on the future of the company. Sadly for such a long and storied brand the future does seem bleak. Death by a thousand cuts….
