Pros

I was looking for extra tutoring money & applied to Grade Potential. About a week later I was emailed that I was selected. There was no interview process. I am a credentialed teacher so this is probably why I was qualified right away. The agency had a student for me within a week of applying. The people working there are very nice & friendly. I definitely recommend them to anyone looking for tutoring jobs &/or extra money. My availability changed so I couldn't continue to tutor. I notified the company and parent beforehand.

Cons

It's probably because I only have a Multiple Subject credential and a Single Subject credential but I only had 1 student. Depending on your other work, this can be a pro or a con. I have a full time teaching job so it was okay. I do wish they warned me that my background check would be coming out of my first check. It was $48 out of my check. It was never mentioned. You get paid once a month. Despite being a credentialed teacher, my hourly rate was $23. When I privately tutor, I get $35 an hour. BUT $23 is better than $0 an hour.

Pros

I was able to pick my own hours and it was pleasant to work with students/adult learners who were motivated to learn in the study rooms of libraries. The company pays a little more for students who are far away 25+ miles.

Cons

On the company, I have gone several months at a time without having any clients, but pay came in on time. I just wish they would update their UI. As for students, some came late, cancelled with less than two hours notice, were very unmotivated, or unprepared for sessions. I also often asked for a course syllabus/description/textbook, and rarely would any parent or student provide that to me, which made preparation for the science sessions a headache. Some students also needed either longer sessions or more self-study, but their parents did not really push any of the additional work or studying. It also became hard to explain how given that the student was already floundering prior to tutoring and doesn't understand the content currently, the cannot simply catch up with one hour of tutoring a week.
