Looks good from the outside — but the culture is quietly deteriorating - CCC Customer Service Representative Grange Insurance Employee Review

Pros

There are still some genuinely good, intelligent people working here, especially in the mid-level ranks. The company has potential and historically operated with stronger values than it does today. Benefits and work-life balance are reasonable, and the frontline staff often support one another despite the environment they’re placed in.

Cons

The biggest issue is leadership culture. Decisions at the supervisor and department level have become inconsistent, politically motivated, and often made for reasons that are never explained or justified. Promotions and reassignments happen in ways that don’t align with performance, credentials, or experience. I personally trained people who were promoted over others with far more skill and background. There is also a noticeable pattern of favoritism. Some leaders are protected regardless of their behavior, while others are quietly pushed out—even when they’re outperforming or more qualified. Communication is extremely poor, and transparency has taken a nosedive over the last year. There are internal trust problems as well. Back-channeling, private accusations, and whispers behind closed doors play a much larger role in decisions than merit. Several people I worked closely with (both current and former employees) expressed the same concern without prompting. Morale has dropped significantly, and many are actively polishing their résumés.

Pros

Business causal environment when we have to go into the office

Cons

Constantly adding high paying directors and made up positions but you keep shrinking the people that are responsible for bringing in the business that actually make money. More and more are promoted to these glorified secretarial roles that are not needed but keep reducing the amount of underwriters. You could hire several underwriters for one of those high salary positions.
