Pros

Competitive pay, good coworkers, emphasis on training. Managers are understanding and helpful.

Cons

GTS (IT) workload is very stressful. After the layoffs & switch to Orion (resource provider) last year, the strategic change has overall been negative, and work/life balance has taken a noticeable hit. Internal associates are each appointed as leads on multiple projects, while being expected to do additional development work & manage issues in integrations & CI/CD pipelines because they were set up poorly a few years ago. This work is all independent of additional TCE (team) items, which are monitored by upper management. To get the expected tasks done and deliver on time, most developers & testers are putting in at least 10-12 hours a day, which doesn't include logging in at 9pm for weekly code releases or commuting to/from the office on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. The CIO and his executive team are completely clueless when it comes to timeline expectations. They reduced resource capacity, tightened the timelines on large projects, and then act surprised when the number of post-release bugs are high. This doesn't stop at the build team, as it trickles down to the production support team(s), who are already understaffed. People feel forced to hurry on their work to be on time, which compromises the overall quality.

Pros

Business causal environment when we have to go into the office

Cons

Constantly adding high paying directors and made up positions but you keep shrinking the people that are responsible for bringing in the business that actually make money. More and more are promoted to these glorified secretarial roles that are not needed but keep reducing the amount of underwriters. You could hire several underwriters for one of those high salary positions.
